HIV-positive individuals, couples and families are welcome at all Center programs and activities. In addition, The Center has services specifically designed for the HIV/AIDS community.
- Behavioral Health Services
- Food Services – The first Tuesday of the month from 9-10:30am, visit The Center’s parking lot for a “one-stop-shop.” Receive emergency fresh food, pre-screen for food stamps and sign up for a range of other services, including employment and medical as well as low-cost utility programs. - Mobile Medical Unit – Mondays, 3-7pm,
The Family Health Centers of San Diego Mobile Medical Unit will be located in The Center’s parking lot every Monday from 3-7 pm! Services include basic primary care, immunizations, PrEP (through Rx), STD screening & treatment, chest/breast cancer screening, family planning, pap smears, pregnancy testing, hormone therapy and sick & well visits. HIV & HCV Testing at The Center
Along with the OraQuick HIV Rapid Antibody test, The Center also offers the UCSD Early Test, Monday through Friday from 9am to 8pm (last appt. at 7pm), and Saturday from 10am to 3pm. The Early Test is a specialized viral load test that can detect acute (very early stage) HIV infection as soon as one week after potential exposure. If you think you’ve been exposed, head to any emergency room or urgent care center and ask for PEP within 3 days! PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) can prevent HIV from making copies of itself and turning into infection if taken within 72 hours.
Treatment as prevention (TasP) refers to HIV prevention methods that use antiretroviral treatment (ART) to decrease the risk of HIV transmission.
