Cast Your Vote at The Center on November 5

I’m David Vance (they/them), The Center’s Senior Manager of Advocacy & Civic Engagement, and I’m here with an important announcement: voting in the 2024 General Election ends this Tuesday, and if you have not already voted, you can come cast your ballot on Monday, November 4, from 8am-5pm or Tuesday, November 5, from 7am-8pm at The Center—the only LGBTQ-affirming Vote Center in the county and one of six super centers in the county, equipped with additional check-in stations, voting booths, and poll workers!

This is a critical election that will determine local and national policies, influencing the direction of our country for years to come. That’s why voter participation is essential for our LGBTQ+ community. With time running out, taking action now is crucial. Your vote is your voice and a powerful tool for change. Voting is how we build a future where LGBTQ+ people are valued and empowered.
Using our voices at the ballot box allows us to create a world where diversity, equity, inclusion, and lived experiences are celebrated, and where justice and equity are realities for all.

Given the significance of this election, our Fierce Advocacy and Civic Engagement (FACE) team has been hard at work to Get Out the Vote, running nonpartisan voter engagement campaigns to inform our community and help amplify LGBTQ+ and allied voices at the ballot box. In addition to reaching out to people in central San Diego, we are engaging low-propensity voters in East County and North County. We’re excited about this intentional outreach to folks who have historically been disenfranchised from the civic process to ensure everyone’s voice is heard.

If you are a registered voter, you can mail in or drop off your ballot at any designated vote center by November 5—including The Center!

Your Center will be open as a Vote Center on November 2-4 from 8am-5pm and on Election Day, November 5, from 7am-8pm. You can do any of the following when you vote at The Center:

Drop off your ballot or request a new one.
Register and vote via same-day voter registration.
Vote using an accessible ballot marking device.
Receive in-person voting assistance, including language assistance, from Registrar of Voters staff.
Get your iconic, rainbow “I VOTED” sticker and show your civic and community pride!
We understand the weight of the 2024 General Election for many in our community and the reassurance it brings LGBTQ+ individuals and allies to vote at The Center, a place where they feel safe and valued. Many San Diegans commute from all over the county just for the special, unique experience of voting at their Center and proudly displaying their rainbow “I VOTED” sticker.

Beyond voting at The Center, if you’d also like to get involved with our nonpartisan civic engagement work, you can join our FACE team for a future phonebank or canvass. More information is available on our website.

During this critical election, we are looking forward to welcoming our community to The Center where you can safely cast your vote in an LGBTQ-affirming space. The time to take action is now! Make your voice heard and use your vote to influence the future of our community.

In Community,

David Vance (They/Them)
