Make your voice heard in the hiring of the County’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The CAO is the most important non-elected position at the County level, responsible for the County budget, operations, and policies that impact all of us. The Board of Supervisors only votes on what they’re presented in the proposed budget, which the CAO creates. The CAO is the main person responsible for the implementation of policies and programs.

We are calling on our community to ask the Board of Supervisors for transparency and community engagement throughout their hiring process. You can email or submit an e-comment now to ask the Board of Supervisors to:

• Publicly release the hiring process and timeline
• Host public forums for community members to share the values they want to see reflected in the next CAO
• Include community representatives in the review and selection process
• Provide an opportunity for community members to ask questions of and assess the final candidates

Submit a pre-drafted public e-comment or email to the Board.
