Crisis Services Drop-In at SBYC
A member of The Center’s Crisis Services team will be available for drop-in times at South Bay Youth Center on Mondays in 2025. Come talk to our Client Crisis Responder & Community Advocate about any crisis support services you may need.
At our Crisis Services Drop-In at SBYC, you can receive a variety of services and support. See some examples below.
Case management
Domestic Violence and Abuse:
- Support for those experiencing intimate partner violence, domestic abuse, or other forms of violence within the LGBTQ+ community.
- Safe housing options and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence.
Homelessness:
- Assistance for LGBTQ+ youth and adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including emergency housing, shelter, and resources to help stabilize living conditions.
- Discrimination and Hate Crimes:
- Advocacy and legal support for individuals facing discrimination, harassment, or violence due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.
- Crisis services for those impacted by hate crimes or discrimination at work, in housing, or in other areas of life.
Youth Support and Crisis Services:
- Specific programs for LGBTQ+ youth, including crisis intervention, safe spaces, peer support groups, and resources for those facing bullying or rejection due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Family Supportive services:
- Some services provide educational materials and resources to families, helping them understand mental health conditions, warning signs, and effective ways to intervene & working with parents in navigating acceptance of their LGBTQ family member.
- Support groups allow family members of individuals experiencing a mental health crisis to connect with others going through similar situations. These groups provide emotional support, practical advice, and strategies for dealing with challenges.
Referrals for
Mental Health Crises:
- Counseling and therapy services for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges, especially related to LGBTQ+ identity.
- Crisis intervention for individuals in immediate emotional distress or struggling with suicidal thoughts.
- Healthcare and Medical Needs:
- Crisis support related to health care access, including mental health care, HIV services, and assistance navigating medical challenges.
- Crisis intervention for those affected by HIV/AIDS, including support for individuals facing health emergencies.
Transgender Services:
- Support for transgender individuals navigating identity-related crises, including gender dysphoria, coming out, or accessing gender-affirming care and services.
