HYC LGBTQIA+ Youth Book Club (13-24)
Join us each month at HYC to read and discuss a graphic novel written by an LGBTQIA+ author. Free books and snacks will be provided! This club is for ages 13-24.

*if the 4th Monday lands on a Holiday, the meet up will be on the 3rd Monday of the month instead. We are open to youth ages 10-13 attending as long as they are interested in participating and are comfortable with the topics the books are discussing!
September meeting is scheduled on September 30th, 2024.
The book for this month is The Backstagers: Volume One by James Tynion IV, Rian Sygh, and Walter Baiamonte. It is about a boy named Jory who transfers to an all-boys private high school and is taken in by the theatre department stage crew. New friends aren’t all Jory gains, because behind the stage crew door is a passageway to worlds full of monsters, friendly creatures, magical color changing paint and super powered tools that they can use to put on the best play their high school has ever seen. However, navigating the ever-changing passageway is tricky, and Jory and his friends (and crush) must be careful to keep each other safe and ensure their desire to put on a fantastic show doesn’t open up any dangerous doors they can’t close.
