The San Diego LGBT Community Center provides targeted programs and services to the full diversity of the San Diego LGBTQ community, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, nonbinary, immigrant, and HIV communities, for the betterment of our entire San Diego region.
Programs and Services
Advocacy and Civic Engagement
Get involved with our Advocacy and Civic Engagement efforts to build LGBTQ+ community power in our region.
- Join the Fierce Advocacy and Civic Engagement team to mobilize voters and take actions in advocacy campaigns.
- Young Professionals Council Academy is an annual six-session cohort that trains the next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders and allies.
- LGBT Vterans Wall of Honor – Nominate an LGBTQ+ veteran who is a leader in the community.
- Community Leadership Council – Community organizations united to collaborate and advance equity.
Community Programs
Our Community Programs include identity-based programs to find belonging and support at The Center.
- Project TRANS is our Transgender and Nonbinary Services program. Project TRANS stands for Transgender Referrals, Assistance, Networking and Services.
- Senior Services – 50 And Better Together – This program is for folks 50+ to find connection and support, including social activities, exercise classes, and food resources.
- Youth Services – Youth ages 10-24 can find resources and support at the Hillcrest Youth Center and South Bay Youth Center, with dedicated days and spaces for different age groups.
- Family Services – LGBTQ+ families, including LGBTQ+ parents and parents of LGBTQ+ youth, can find support and connection.
- Black Services – Connect with Black LGBTQ+ community members through our Black Services program at The Center. From support groups to movie nights, together we create opportunities for connection and belonging.
- Latin@x Services – Providing support and resources for the Latin@x community and advocacy on issues affecting our immigrant and HIV communities.
- Women’s Services – Support and discussion groups, coming out groups, and special events like the Red Hot Dance twice a year at The Center.
- Men’s Services – Join a men’s support group, including groups for the trans masculine community, Latin@x men, seniors, and more.
Resources for our entire community
- Housing Services – Our housing continuum of services includes resources from eviction and homelessness prevention to permanent supportive housing. We provide options for youth, adults, and seniors.
- Behavioral Health Services – LGBTQ-affirming mental health resources available, including on-site therapists.
- Crisis Services – We offer walk-in, phone, and ongoing support to folks facing urgent challenges, including housing or food insecurity, heatlh concerns, and life disruptions, and help them connect to resources.
- Food Resources – We host a monthly neighborhood food bank, and a monthly senior food bank. We also provide meals through our Congregate Meal Program for seniors, host a Senior Lunch and Learn, and more.

About The Center
At The Center, our overarching philosophy and approach to providing support and services is trauma-informed care. Our support and services are designed to be both preventive and rehabilitative in working with people who have been impacted by traumatic events, including bullying, violence and systemic trauma.
Our team focuses on 6 key principles with our trauma-informed approach:

Functioning as the San Diego LGBTQ+ community’s anchor organization, The Center provides targeted programs and services to the full diversity of the San Diego LGBTQ+ community, including men, women, youth, seniors, transgender and non-binary individuals, families, LGBTQ Latino/a/x community members, and their families, and those living with HIV. From the start, The Center has created and provided innovative services, many first in the nation. Below find just a few examples:
- The first court-ordered same-sex domestic violence program in the nation
- The first program in the nation at an LGBTQ+ community center dedicated to the LGBTQ+ Latin@x community
- The first youth drop-in Center in San Diego devoted to LGBTQ+ youth
- The only agency who offers free and anonymous HIV testing in San Diego
- The first LGBTQ-affirming Emergency Overnight Housing shelter in San Diego
- Case management and support services at San Diego’s first LGBTQ-affirming housing program for seniors
