I’m Alisandra Del Nero (she/her), Senior Services Case Manager at The Center, and I’m excited to announce that our next Red Hot Dance for queer women 21+ is happening on Saturday, August 23, from 6–9pm at The Center!
As we approach Women’s Equality Day on August 26—commemorating the nineteenth amendment to the U.S. constitution which gave women the right to vote—it’s critical to celebrate and create spaces for women in our LGBTQ+ community, especially during this moment in history. Across the country, attacks on bodily autonomy, LGBTQ+ rights, and the safety of women and gender-diverse people continue to intensify.
In the face of these challenges, coming together in joy and unity is not only an act of resistance, but also a powerful way to nourish our collective strength and care. The Red Hot Dance is the perfect opportunity to do this, where queer women can lean into moments that bring us more life, happiness, and connection as we celebrate the power and beauty of our community together!
Since reviving the Red Hot Dance in 2023, we’ve seen a clear need for more opportunities to celebrate queer women and the rich diversity of our community. We’re proud to host this beloved event biannually to bring us together, uplift one another, and make space for laughter, movement, and connection.
The Red Hot Dance is a welcoming event for those who identify as lesbians, transgender women, cisgender women, nonbinary folks, womxn, womyn, queer women, dykes, bisexual women, femme-identifying, pansexual women, or any combination within our vibrant queer spectrum. If this space feels like it’s for you, it is!
We are thrilled to welcome DJ Muezette to the Red Hot Dance for the second time, playing everything from 80s anthems to current hits. Enjoy free appetizers and drinks, and take a breather in our quiet sensory space or relax in our comfy seating area if you need a moment away from the dance floor.
The Red Hot Dance is just one way Women’s Services at The Center remains deeply committed to creating spaces that reflect and uplift queer women. Whether through support groups, resources, or events like this one, we continue to foster joy and resilience, especially when we need it most.
I can’t wait for this celebration and I hope you will join us on Saturday, August 23, from 6–9pm in The Center’s Auditorium. There is a suggested $10 donation at the door, but everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay. Please RSVP on our website!
Let’s celebrate all queer women, along with our power, our presence, and the joy we create when we come together.
In community,
Alisandra Del Nero (she/her)
