Dear Center Community,
My name is Lois Tsang (they/she), Senior Services Event & Outreach Coordinator at The Center, and I’m honored to share information about Senior Services at The Center, including an exciting event series starting today, Tech on the Go, to provide our community members with ongoing tech support every Monday in August!
At 50+ and Better Together Senior Services at The Center, we are proud to provide connection and dedicated services to community members aged 50 and older. This month, we are partnering with the City of San Diego and the San Diego Futures Foundation to bring free, hands-on digital literacy classes directly to The Center. These classes are designed to help participants build confidence using everyday technology, such as smartphones, tablets, and computers.
The rise of artificial intelligence and sophisticated digital scams make it important for community members to understand how to navigate technology and protect themselves. San Diego Futures Foundation is here to help our community members, and we’d love to see you join us! Tech on the Go will occur every Monday in August from 4-6pm at The Center. The first hour of each session will be a class discussion on the weekly topic, and the second hour will be reserved for basic tech questions from participants. Our August 2025 series will focus on smartphone basics (both iPhone and Android), with weekly topics including:
- August 4: Navigating phone and settings
- August 11: Contacting and blocking people
- August 18: Taking photos
- August 25: Using apps
Participants are welcome to bring their own devices for personalized support, and laptops will also be provided during class as needed. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to improve your tech skills, Tech on the Go offers a welcoming environment for learners at all levels. Plus, participants who attend all four classes in a monthly series will be entered into an opportunity drawing to receive a free laptop!

We are here to support you all year long, and we look forward to having you with us this August to explore technology through hands-on learning. Don’t miss this chance to connect with your community while building your confidence with tech!
