Festival Mictlan 2025
Join Latin@x Services at The San Diego LGBT Community Center for Festival Mictlan: Celebration of the Underworld—a family-centered gathering honoring Mictlan, the underworld in Mexica (Aztec) tradition, the sacred destination where souls journey and return on Día de los Muertos.
This celebration, presented in the spirit of a traditional kermés, will include:
- A Catrin@x Contest with wonderful prizes—come dressed in your finest Día de los Muertos attire and skeleton makeup. Walk-ins for the Catrin@x Contest will be welcomed.
- A Community Altar Contest, with altares displayed throughout the festival as offerings of memory and love.
- Live presentations from local artists uplifting our ancestral heritage.
- A Beginner Salsa Class, inviting everyone to join in the dance.
If you wish to participate in any of the contests or activities, please sign up no later than October 24.
We warmly invite you, your family, and community to come together in celebration, honoring our traditions while creating new memories through art, music, and collective joy.

Únete a Latin@x Services en The San Diego LGBT Community Center para el Festival Mictlán: Celebración del Inframundo — un encuentro familiar en honor a Mictlán, el inframundo en la tradición mexica (azteca), el destino sagrado a donde viajan las almas y regresan en el Día de los Muertos.
Esta celebración, presentada con el espíritu de una kermés tradicional, incluirá:
- Concurso de Catrin@x con increíbles premios — ven con tu mejor atuendo de Día de los Muertos y maquillaje de calavera. Las inscripciones para el concurso estarán abiertas el mismo día.
- Concurso de Altares Comunitarios, con altares exhibidos durante todo el festival como ofrendas de memoria y amor.
- Presentaciones en vivo de artistas locales, resaltando y celebrando nuestro legado ancestral.
- Clase de Salsa para Principiantes, invitando a todes a unirse al baile.
Si deseas participar en alguno de los concursos o actividades, por favor regístrate a más tardar el 24 de octubre.
