I’m David Vance (they/them), The Center’s Director of Advocacy & Civic Engagement, and I’m excited to share that Your Center will be an official Vote Center for the upcoming Prop 50 Special Election from November 1–4, where you can proudly cast your vote in an LGBTQ-affirming space
Proposition 50, also called the Election Rigging Response Act, changes how California’s congressional district maps are drawn. If approved by voters, Prop 50 would temporarily replace congressional district maps drawn by an independent commission with new maps created by the California State Legislature through 2030.
A “YES” vote
allows our state to adopt these temporary congressional district maps in response to redistricting in other states. The independent Citizens Redistricting Commission would return to enact congressional district maps in 2031.
A “NO” vote opposes the constitutional amendment, keeping the existing congressional district maps in place.
The Center will serve as a Vote Center for this special election from Saturday, November 1, through Tuesday, November 4, at the following times:
- November 1–3 from 8am–5pm
- November 4 from 7am–8pm
You can verify your voter registration online with the “My Voter Status” tool. If you are not already registered, you can visit RegisterToVote.ca.gov to register.
Under California state law, vote-by-mail ballots are sent to every active registered voter. Counties began mailing ballots on October 6, which means you should have already received your ballot in the mail if you are a registered voter!
After completing your ballot, sign and date your return envelope, seal your completed ballot inside, and return it by mail, at an official ballot drop box, or at a Vote Center, including The Center.
All Vote Center locations can be found online, but even if we are not your closest Vote Center, you can vote at The Center! The Center team is always so excited to provide our community with the unique and empowering opportunity to cast their ballot in an LGBTQ-affirming space, and receive one of our iconic, rainbow “I Voted” stickers.
Don’t miss out on this key opportunity to let your voice be heard. I’m looking forward to seeing you all at The Center for this special election!
In community,
David Vance (they/them)
Director of Advocacy & Civic Engagement
