This is David Vance (they/them), Director of Advocacy and Civic Engagement at The Center, encouraging you to vote in person or drop off your ballots at The Center by 8pm on Tuesday, November 3, for the Midterm General Election!
This is one of the most critical elections of our time—one that will have immense impact on our communities, our freedoms, and the future of our democracy.
Across the country, we are witnessing coordinated attacks on the rights of LGBTQ+ people, especially trans and nonbinary folks, and anti-LGBTQ legislation that impacts our access to healthcare, the institutions that support us, and our ability to exist authentically in public. Our immigrant communities who make our nation strong are being targeted by ICE. There continue to be attempts to strip away voting rights, destroy hard-won protections, and erode the foundation of our democracy.
The Midterm General Election is our opportunity to take action and make our voices heard. The decisions made in this election, including for the governor’s race, for key congressional races, and on important local and state ballot measures, will influence the direction of our country, the future of California, and funding for critical services in San Diego County. The power we build in our state and in our region helps protect vulnerable communities, shapes national politics, and pushes us toward a future where justice and equity are realities for all.
If you’ve been feeling enraged and overwhelmed by ICE raids, attacks on reproductive freedom, threats to affirming healthcare, anti-trans legislation, or the erosion of democratic protections, we need you to vote in this election! Voting is one of the most consequential and practical tools we have to fight back. When voter turnout rises, it sends a message that we are paying attention, demanding change, and refusing to be erased.
The Center is proud to be the only LGBTQ-affirming vote center in our region, where you can cast your ballot surrounded by people who see you, support you, and believe your voice matters. If you drop off your ballot or vote in person at The Center, you will also receive our iconic rainbow “I Voted” sticker, and the first 100 voters to come through our doors will receive a free LGBTQ+ Power tote bag!
You can vote at The Center:
- Monday, November 2, 8am-5pm
- Tuesday, November 3, 7am-8pm
Find a full list of vote centers on the California Secretary of State website.
Your vote is powerful. Democracy survives because people choose to participate, speak up, and protect one another. We must show up for ourselves and our community in this critical moment.
If you haven’t already voted in the Midterm General Election, this is your chance to make your voice heard. Come vote in person, drop off your ballot, invite your friends to join, pick up your rainbow “I Voted” sticker, and be part of the movement shaping the future of our state and country!
In community,
David Vance (they/them)
